15th & 16th September 2018
Oststern, Hanauer Landstr. 121, 60314 Frankfurt am Main

ZEITGEIST reinvents itself again and returns to its mother city: the next edition will take place on 15 & 16 September 2018 in the Frankfurt pop-up location OstStern. Under the motto ZEITGEIST >Back to the Future<, your favorite design market will present a glimpse into the furniture design of the past century and give you an idea of what might come. On an area of around 3,000 square meters, international dealers offer selected design classics, furniture and furnishings from the 20th century. One can look forward to a „Wohnutopie“ by the student of Städelschule Architecture Class – EDA TEKIRLI – in the FUTURE ROOM at ZEITGEIST. Also on display will be an exhibition of selected design objects by FRANK LANDAU, curated by Prof. MATTHIAS WAGNER K. Good music, food and coffee will round out the event.

ZEITGEIST takes you into a time that was marked by pioneering spirit and daring, a spirit of optimism and a trust in technology and innovation. Visionaries such as Verner Panton, Luigi Colani and Peter Ghyczy have created forms and developed living spaces that seemed unthinkable at the time. Inspired by the lunar walk that took place in 1969 and the enormous advances in space travel, nothing seemed impossible anymore – the utopia became reality!

Let ZEITGEIST >Back to the Future< take you away from this mood and experience a fascinating event around the theme of design and interior design. You have the opportunity to buy selected design classics on our market and to set you up with a living history.

We are pleased that Prof. Matthias Wagner K, director of the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, is taking over the patronage of this year’s issue of ZEITGEIST!

Matthias Wagner K was born in Jena in 1961. In his many years as a freelance curator and author, he made a name for himself as a specialist for Nordic art and culture, fashion and design as well as for light art. Since 2012 he is director of the Frankfurt Museum Angewandte Kunst. Here he has brought about a paradigm shift with a completely revised exhibition and participation concept. Since then, the house has increasingly focused on the perception of social trends and developments, and with changing constellations of objects is constantly coming up with new topics.

Thus, the Museum Angewandte Kunst occupies a position with a model character for contemporary museum concepts in the 21st century. Most recently, Wagner K provided the exhibition Jil Sander. Present for international attention and the biggest public success of the museum so far. In June 2018, Matthias Wagner K was appointed Honorary Professor in the Department of Design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach.
